Growing up, my dad’s side of the family would gather multiple times each summer at my aunt’s house on Long Pond in Lakeville, MA. Some of my favorite childhood memories happened there, including jumping into the cold lake water from this raft. My cousins and I would spend hours sitting on the raft chatting and laughing, and getting a break from our parents.
My aunt passed away in 2017, and I painted this scene as a memorial to the time we spent together, along with another painting of the hammock that used to hang in the yard.
